Bury Council is a partner in this 'greening' initiative alongside, Manchester, Bolton, Salford, Wigan and Trafford Councils, Natural England and the Forestry Commission. The aim of the Forest project is, over a period of 40 years, to substantially increase tree cover on the west side of Greater Manchester. The partners fund a project team to manage and promote the initiative.
