In 2007 the North West Development Agency approved funding for a second Newlands programme of reclamation to be led by the Forestry Commission. Two of the sites to be targetted in this programme are:
- Rhodes Farm
the former sewage works in the Irwell Valley to the north of the M60, and
- Radcliffe Ees
the former waste tip near Close Park in Radcliffe.
