Submitting a local search

These are some handy tips to ensure that we can process your search efficiently and avoid unnecessary delays:

  • Always send 2 completed LLC1 and CON 29 forms.
  • Supply 2 plans, clearly outlining the property or area of land you wish to search on.
  • Ensure optional and additional enquiries are submitted at the time of the original search, requests received at the later date can delay our response. If you find after the completion of your initial request that you require further information, we are able to provide answers but do not re-validate your offficial certficate of search or add the questions to your original applications. Answer will be provided by way of letter.
  • If you wish to include other roads or footpaths in 'Box C' of the CON 29 form please identify them by name or if the name is unknown identify them by hatching or colouring them on your plans.
  • The fee received must be correct before an application can be processed. Remember to include the fee for any optional or additional enquiries. When submitting searches on commercial properties it would be advisable to ring and check fees as they often included additional charges.  Cheques are to be made payable to Bury MBC. If on receipt of an application we find the fee to be incorrect we will telephone to notify you.

From 1 August 2007 the new Con 29 (2007 edition) will be introduced. The new Con 29 will comprise required and optional parts and now customers can submit optional questions individually if required. Each part is a stand alone product that can be ordered seperately. Clients who wish to discover all relevant information may still submit both parts together, though they will not have to be submitted at the same time after 1 August. The new Question 22 on the new Con 29 Optional Form is designed for Common Land enquiries, but for a temporary period DEFRA has decided to retain the existing CR21 Form. Please contact our office for further information.
