A Personal Search is carried out in person by making an inspection of the Local Land Charges Register.
To inspect the register you need to make an appointment with the Local Land Charges Office. At this time appointment can be made for 14.15, 14.45, 15.15 and 15.45. However from Monday 4 July 2005 the times will change to 10.00, 10.30, 11.00 and 11.30. You will need to book the addresses for your appointment giving at least 48 hours notice. You can search on a maximum 5 addresses per appointment and a fee of £11.00 will be due for each property on the appointment. A limitation of one appointment per individual/firm each day will be applied to ensure fair and reasonable access for all.
If you are attending a Personal Search appointment you can also view, free of charge, the Planning, Highways and Environmental Health Registers.
Protection under the Land Charges Act 1975 is only available when using the CON 29 forms. When conducting a Personal Search instead of an Official Search you will not be able to pursue legal action against the Council if the information gathered is incorrect.
