As part of our ongoing commitment to improving and modernising the services we provide to you, Bury Council have launched a range of electronic services available from this web site. Go to the e-Planning page to link to online applications forms at the Planning Portal, comment on current planning applications, search for applications and lots more.
About Development control
The Development Control Service is responsible for processing planning applications in the Borough. A planning enforcement service is also provided. These pages provide you with details of the work of the Planning Control Committee, how to apply for planning permission, recent planning applications submitted to the Council and planning application forms available for download.

Planning Fees increase from 6 April 2008
The Government has published draft regulations announcing an increase in fees to be paid for planning applications from the 6 April 2008. See examples below:
- House Extensions - was £135 now £150.
- Change of use - was £265 now £335.
- New dwellings (per unit) - was £265 now £335.
- Additional floorspace (per 75 sq.m) - was £265 now £335.
The maximum figures for each category has been increased from £50,000 to £250,000.
There will also be a new fee levied for requests to discharge planning conditions, e.g. approval of materials or a landscaping scheme - £85 per request (£25 for house extensions).
