Updating your skills and knowledge and keeping abreast of current initiatives is vitally important to all teachers and is part of the new "professionalism".
This is a reminder that courses at the Bury Development and Training Centre are available to supply teachers who are working in Bury schools.
To access these courses free of charge you must be working in a Bury school e.g. you may be a supply teacher at a school regularly covering for teachers or on a placement for 3 weeks or more to qualify. All primary schools have bought into Development and Training Centre (DTC) Service Level Agreement 1 and have free access. However if you are working in a secondary school please check that the school you are in has bought into this agreement otherwise funding may need to be sought to cover course costs. Some courses funded by the national primary and secondary strategies are available free of charge to all teachers. Please check in the training booklet for further information.
You must be working at the time you apply for the course and still working in the school at the time of the course delivery. Unfortunately there is no payment for salary. You will need the signature of the Head teacher of the school you are working in on the course application form.
Training courses are available in schools, you can pick up a copy of the training booklet for yourself from the DTC, Parkinson Street, Bury BL9 6NY. Alternatively the booklet is available onlline. The booklet is updated termly.
