Secondary school admissions

Children born between 1 September 1997 and 31 August 1998 will transfer to secondary schools in September 2009. You are encouraged to make contact with schools. However, any indication you are given by a school cannot be taken as a guarantee of whether or not a place will be offered. Each secondary school has produced a prospectus containing detailed information about the school. A free copy of each school's prospectus is available directly from the school.

Important dates to note

* Timetable for procedure for Bury residents:-

September 2008 - Letters regarding open days/evenings have been sent to parents of Year 6 pupils.

September 2008 - Booklets and Common Application Forms have been sent to parents of Year 6 pupils.

24 October 2008 - Parents to return Common Application Forms to primary schools, or direct to the Admissions Team. Applications received after 24 October 2008 will be treated as late applications. Please see points 13 & 14 on the first page of our Co-ordinated Admissions Scheme (50kb, 2 page pdf).

2 March 2009 - Notification letters will be posted out to parents.
 
If you do not live in Bury, you need to check with your own Local Authority as the timetable may be different.
