The Electoral Commission has now completed the Periodic Electoral Review of the future electoral arrangements for Bury on 12 February 2004 and made the Borough of Bury (Electoral Changes) Order 2004 which will come into force on the day of the election of Councillors in 2004.
The Order provides for:-
- The abolition of existing Wards in the Borough and the creation of 17 new Wards:-
- Besses
- Church
- East
- Elton
- Holyrood
- Moorside
- North Manor
- Pilkington Park
- Radcliffe East
- Radcliffe North
- Radcliffe West
- Ramsbottom
- Redvales
- St Mary's
- Sedgley
- Tottington
- Unsworth
- Each Ward to comprise the area designated on the reference map.
- The additional Ward to be named 'North Manor Ward'.
- The Radcliffe Wards to be named 'Radcliffe East', 'Radcliffe North' and 'Radcliffe West.
- A whole Council election in 2004 and for reversion to the established system of election by thirds in subsequent years.
