Facts and figures

The Facts, Figures and Finance booklet was first introduced in 1974/1975. This booklet now becomes the 33rd consecutive publication. The increasing emphasis on Local Authorities performance, particularly through the ‘Use of Resources’ judgment within the Comprehensive Performance Assessment (CPA) has meant that publications such as Facts, Figures and Finance have become a useful tool when comparing costs and performance. The figures are provided to highlight the differences between authorities and to encourage consideration of the reasons for the variations.

This booklet is to provide easily understood information to a wide range of stakeholders, including Councillors, members of the public and local authority employees.Comparative information is publicised on all major services and includes capital and revenue budgets. Figures are also included for those services such as Police and Fire that are provided on a county-wide basis. The information shown is based mainly on budgets and estimates for the financial year that runs from 1st April 2006.
