What is CAA about?
Comprehensive Area Assessment is a new approach that will provide the first independent assessment of the prospects for local areas and the quality of life for people living there. It will be introduced from April 2009 and will replace the current CPA undertaken by the Audit Commission
Comprehensive Area Assessment is more about outcomes than outputs, and focuses on partnership working not just the activities of the council. Reporting on BVPI's is no longer a statutory obligation, although departments recognise the value of some of the information these indicators provided and will continue to report them through the Performance Information Management System (PIMS) at a local level. The government has introduced a suite of 198 National Indicators, 27 of which have been included in Bury's Local Area Agreement.
