I have been provided with a brown bin and a blue bin, what should I put in them?
These bins are for recycling garden and household waste.

Use the brown bin for:  loose garden waste (not bagged) including grass cuttings, hedge clippings, cut flowers/plants leaves and bark, twigs, small branches, whole raw fruit, windfalls and whole raw vegetables

Use the blue bin for:  glass bottles/jars, food cans, drinks/beer cans, plastic bottles that once contained fizzy/soft drinks, milk, vegetable oil, washing up liquid, bleach, disinfectant, shampoo or conditioners.

Please rinse bottles and cans to remove any food. Do not put broken glass, mirrors, window glass, milk bottles, light bulbs or drinking glasses in the box. Please remember that your recycling collection team has to handle these materials.

Report the damage to the Customer Contact Team giving them full details of where the pothole or flagstone is situated.
There is an abandoned car in my street – how can I get it moved?
The diminishing value of scrap metal seems to have led to a nationwide increase in owners leaving their old unroadworthy and untaxed vehicles on streets in towns and in the country, rather than pay to have them taken away. These abandoned cars have to be dealt with by Local Authorities at the taxpayer's expense.

To have an abandoned car or other vehicle moved in the first instance, contact the Police on 0161 870 5050. The Council only accept abandoned vehicles via the Police. You may enquire whether the Police have passed a vehicle to us for removal by calling the enquiry number 0161 253 6604.
