Bury Community Contacts
Welcome to Bury Community Contacts, the Bury MBC Libraries database of local groups, societies and organisations.
Here you will find contact details for over 1,000 local clubs, organisations and other useful contacts for the Bury Metro Area, including Prestwich, Radcliffe, Ramsbottom and surrounding areas, plus some national organisations where appropriate.
The information is a combination of the Bury Community Contacts File (maintained by Bury Library Service, Reference & Information Services section) and the Directory of Services for Children, Young People, Families and Individuals "Find it 4 Me" (maintained by Bury Children and Young People's Information Service). It is kept up-to-date regularly, so if your organisation is not listed, or you would like to suggest amendments to existing records please complete the on-line form or e-mail us at: information@bury.gov.uk
Printed Category lists from the Bury Community Contacts are available from all Bury Council Libraries.

How to Search Bury Community Contacts
There are three main ways to search for an organisation:
1. Keyword Search
Enter a keyword (e.g. "cine") or phrase (e.g. "bury cine society") in the box below, results will have your keyword or phrase anywhere within the entry.
The Boolean (or advanced) search option allows you to use the operators AND, NOT and OR. To use these operators you must first click in the circle to the left of the word "Boolean". Then type in word in each of the boxes below the word "Boolean" and choose "AND", "NOT" or "OR" from the small drop-down menu box to the left of the Bury borough map.
You can then search in the following ways:
- Look for "cricket AND tennis" - this will give a list of clubs offering both sports.
- Look for "cricket NOT tennis" - this will give a list of clubs offering just cricket.
- Look for "cricket OR tennis" - this will give a list of clubs offering just cricket, just tennis or both cricket and tennis.
You can also narrow down your search results by using the location option. For example: Look for "advice" in "Bury". Type in the word "advice" in the top search box and then click on the part of the Bury borough map that you're interested in e.g. "Bury". Then click on the search button. This will give you a list of organizations which offer advice which are based in Bury.
2. Category Search
These headings will take you to a list of sub-categories- Community Groups
- Includes a wide range of charities and social groups
- Environment and Animals
- Lists contacts for environmental organisations , wildlife, conservation and pets
- Health, Well being and Care
- Lists self-help and mutual support groups, health service contacts, disabled groups
- Information, Advice and Support
- This category lists details of advice organisations, family support groups , carers and housing services, legal and business organisations
- Leisure
- Hobbies and arts clubs ,societies and organisations are listed here. Sports clubs are listed separately in the Sports Category
- Older People
- Includes social clubs for the over 60s ,leisure activities ,housing advice contacts
- Religion
- This category lists places of worship for all denominations in the Borough, along with religious groups and clubs
- Sport
- Listings of local and regional sports clubs and facilities. National bodies are listed where there are no regional or local clubs
- Women
- All types of local clubs and groups specifically for women are listed in this group
- Young People
- Covers clubs and groups for young people from school age to young adults. For pre- school age groups contact the Childrens Information Service
