The primary aim of twinning is to foster friendship and understanding between people of different nationalities. The twinning movement is, therefore, truly international and is based primarily on links between communities in different countries.
The Metropolitan Borough of Bury is twinned with Angouleme and Tulle in France, Schorndorf in Germany and Woodbury in New Jersey, USA. We also have a friendship agreement with the city of Datong in China.
