Equality and Diversity

Bury Council values and embraces all people, irrespective of their background, for the differences, skills, abilities and experiences they bring into the workforce and the wider community.  We are committed to ensuring that everyone is treated fairly and has equal access to our services and employment opportunities.

Through our community leadership role, we are working with our partners in Team Bury to ensure that Bury is seen as a Borough where diversity is valued and celebrated, so that we can build stronger, confident, responsible communities where people feel they can live and belong.

The Council has a generic approach to equality issues, but within that particularly recognises the equality characteristics of race, disability, gender, gender reassignment, age, sexual orientation, religion or belief, and caring responsibilities.
