BurySafe Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership

The BurySafe Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership (CDRP) is a statutory body that has been established under the provision of the Crime and Disorder Act 1998 (Revised).

Purpose statement

"To provide a safer and healthier environment for everyone living, visiting and working in the Metropolitan Borough of Bury".

Aim of the partnership

"To make the borough safe by reducing crime and disorder with the ultimate aim of improving the quality of life for everyone in Bury".

BurySafe CDRP defines Community Safety as:

Reducing the underlying causes of crime, lessening the fear of crime and supporting the victims of crime to achieve our aim.

At the strategic level the BurySafe (CDRP) has been set up to provide direction and to co-ordinate the efforts of the Police, Bury MBC, Probation Service, PCT, GMPA, Fire Service, Victim Support, REC, Magistrates Courts, CPS, Bury & Bolton Chamber of Commerce and other agencies in their work to reduce crime and disorder and drug abuse in the Borough.

The Authority's Chief Executive and the Divisional Commander of the GMP jointly chair the partnership.
