Who can apply?
The Fair Play Charter scheme is open to any business involved in the motor trade who can show they are committed to fair and honest trade with consumers. The scheme covers the sale of new and used cars as well as servicing and repairs.
Being a member of the scheme allows traders to show their customers that they are genuinely committed to fair and honest trade.

What happens next?
Trading Standards staff will check the details on the application form. If everything is correct, a site visit will be arranged. During this site visit your business procedures will be assessed to determine whether you meet the strict criteria. Don’t worry if you are a small business and you don’t have a documented quality control system – this will not prevent us from accepting you as a member. As long as you can demonstrate your commitment to fair and honest trade then you will be welcome.
