Consultation has now ended
The Love Prestwich Village: Town Centre Development Strategy will form part of the evidence base for the Bury Local Development Framework Core Strategy, with the intention that it is approved as a Material Planning Consideration to help guide the Council's future decisions on planning applications and other potential regeneration initiatives in Prestwich.
As part of the process of on-going community engagement, Bury Council invited comments on the consulation draft of the Love Prestwich Village report. The consultation period ran from 13 October until 24 November 2008. An exhibition was made available for the public to view the plans and ask more indepth questions. The documents can be viewed below:

Past consultations
Consultation with local people and businesses, as well as with developers and other key stakeholders, is at the heart of the process of taking forward the masterplan and development strategy in order to create a deliverable vision which fulfils the aspirations of the people of Prestwich and give them the Village they deserve.
The following consultations have already taken place on the masterplan options:
19 May to 6 June 2008 - Love Prestwich Village: Masterplan Options Consultation
URBED have completed their baseline analysis and a masterplanning options appraisal for the town centre development strategy. This process included seeking the views of local people on a series of masterplan options for the core town centre area including the Longfield Centre, Bury New Road and the area around Tesco. A display of the masterplan options was available to view at Prestwich Library between 19 May and 6 June 2008
It is anticipated that the Draft Love Prestwich Village: town centre development strategy will be available for public consultation from mid August 2008.
15 May 2008 - Prestwich Local Area Partnership
URBED presented the masterplan options to the Local Area Partnership Meeting held in the Longfield Suite on the 15 May.
11 May 2008 - Prestwich Clough Day
URBED took their Consultation Bus to the Prestwich Clough family event day held in St. Mary’s Flower Park and at St Mary’s Parish Church. Over 60 people came onto the bus to view and discuss the masterplan options with members of the URBED team.
13 March 2008 - Prestwich Village Town Centre Development Strategy
URBED ran a workshop that brought together local residents, local businesses, key developers and other interested stakeholders. At the workshop participants were asked for their views on what kind of place Prestwich is today and how it should change in the future. This was a crucial stage in establishing a shared vision and masterplan for Prestwich and will be instrumental in shaping the final form of the Prestwich Village Town Centre Development Strategy.
4 March 2008 - Presentation by URBED to the Prestwich Local Area Partnership
URBED presented their "Baseline Analysis" of the current state of Prestwich. There was an opportunity for the public to ask questions about the initial findings and what will be involved in preparing the Prestwich Village: Town Centre Development Strategy.
