
What is Love Prestwich anti-litter campaign?
As part of Love Prestwich, Prestwich Local Area Partnership have launched an anti-litter campaign aimed at promoting respect for the environment throughout Prestwich Village.
Working alongside local businesses, schools and residents, officers from Bury Council are aming to make Prestwich a cleaner, safer, greener place to live, work, study and visit.
Aims of the Campaign
There are three major aims to the anti-litter campaign:
- raising awareness;
- encouraging the community to take pride in their area; and
- giving people the knowledge and confidence to report offenders.
Raising awareness
- raise awareness of fixed penalties for fly tipping;
- encourage residents and businesses to be greener and cleaner; and
- promote the work of Bury Council's street care teams.
Taking pride in your area
- encourage schools, residents and businesses to sign up to the Bury Street Care Pledge;
- educate local businesses about their Duty of Care to legally dispose of their business waste;
- provide educational visits to schools (including a competition for an anti-litter poster campaign); and
- promote community involvement clean-up days.
Catching offenders
- help to identify hotspot areas;
- encourage people to report offenders; and
- educate the community about the Council's enforcement role.

Bury Street Care Pledge
Love Prestwich Anti-Litter Campaign is running alongside the Bury Street Care Pledge. The pledge campaign aims to develop community pride and could ultimately involve the whole community in helping to keep Bury clean, tidy and litter-free. Everyone can take the Bury Street Care Pledge.
- Residents will commit to keeping the land around their home clean, tidy and litter free.
- Schools will commit to educating pupils to look after their environment now and in the future as well as keeping the land around their school clean, tidy and litter free.
- Businesses will commit to ensuring that any waste they produce is handled safely and in accordance with the law, they will promote responsible disposal of litter to employees and be a positive example to others.
