Where to find contract opportunities

In conjunction with other councils in the north west region, Bury Council is in the process of introducing a procurement portal called The Chest which has been developed for the 47 council's in the north west by the Regional Centre of Excellence.

The Chest will enable suppliers to register online and receive e-mail notification of upcoming council opportunities. The Chest also comes complete with an electronic tendering system that will enable suppliers to receive and submit tenders electronically via a secure and fully audited system. There is no charge to suppliers for using this system. Existing and potential suppliers will be able to:

  • view forthcoming contract opportunities on-line;
  • register an interest; and
  • receive and submit quotations, pre-qualification questionnaires and tenders electronically.

The Chest portal and e-tendering system is hosted by Due North our software provider for this service.  Whilst the system is currently in its infancy with only limited opportunities available at the present time we are working with all council departments to develop the system and make more tender opportunities available electronically.

To access the portal please click the following link  The Chest

Subject to the value of the contract Bury Council will also advertise its own contracts in local newspapers such as The Bury Times.  In some instances adverts will also be placed in trade journals appropriate to the nature of the contract and in Contrax Weekly. In addition contracts over the EU threshold will be published in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU).  These contracts can be viewed at: http://www.ted.eur-op.eu.int/
