Contracts awarded by the Council will generally be to the supplier/contractor who will provide best overall value to the Council, whilst meeting the Council's requirements and standards. During the Procurement process the Council aims to be fair and transparent in the awarding of contracts and whilst wishing to encourage local suppliers to compete for contracts the Council cannot discriminate in their favour.
Approved lists
The Council maintains a number of approved lists of contractors and when works are required to be carried out tenderers are chosen from these approved lists on a selection/rotational basis. Once compiled approved lists are reviewed annually. As part of the review all contractors on the list will be asked whether they wish to remain on the list and adverts inviting additional applications for inclusion will be published in one or more newspapers or journals appropriate to the nature of work required by the approved list. Reviews will reassess the financial, technical ability and performance of suppliers, with suppliers that are no longer qualified being removed.
